How does the Assessor find out about transfers and new construction

Transfers are generally recorded in the Recorder’s office. The Assessor has access to some of the Recorder’s information. So electronically the recorded data is delivered to the Assessor daily.

The New Construction generally requires a building permit. The four issuing agencies within Tehama County provide a list to the Assessor of the permits that they have issued on a monthly basis. This information in turn is posted to the record for that specific property and an appraiser would act on that information.
